Abstract

• In January 2021, East Java experienced inflation of 0.32 percent. Of the eight CPI cities in East Java, experiencing inflation. The highest inflation was in Madiun at 0.60 percent. Meanwhile, the lowest inflation occurred in Sumenep and Malang at 0.06 percent.
• Inflation occurs due to price increases as indicated by increases in most expenditure groups. of the eleven expenditure groups, ten experienced inflation and one experienced deflation. The expenditure group that experienced the highest inflation was the food, beverage and tobacco group at 0.95 percent, while the lowest was the education group at 0.04 percent. There were two other expenditure groups that experienced inflation below 0.1 percent, namely housing, water, electricity and household fuel at 0.08 percent and the recreation, sports and culture group at 0.06 percent. One management group that experienced deflation was the transportation group, namely 0.03 percent.
• The inflation rate for the calendar year for January 2021 is 0.32 percent and the year-on-year inflation rate (January 2021 against January 2020) is 1.25 percent.
