Abstract

Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) is a comparison of the price index received by farmers (It) to the price index paid by farmers (Ib). NTP is an indicator to see the level of ability/purchasing power of farmers in rural areas. NTP also shows the exchangeability (terms of trade) of agricultural products for goods and services consumed and for production costs. The East Java Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) in March 2024 fell 4.70 percent from 119.85 to 114.22. This decrease in NTP was caused by the price index received by farmers (It) decreasing by 4.05 percent, while the price index paid by farmers (Ib) increased by 0.68 percent. In March 2024, two agricultural subsectors experienced a decrease in NTP and three other subsectors experienced an increase in NTP. The subsector that experienced the highest decline in NTP was the Food Crops subsector by 8.46 percent from 128.53 to 117.65, followed by the Horticulture subsector by 1.41 percent from 126.90 to 125.11. Meanwhile, the subsector that experienced the highest increase in NTP was the Livestock subsector by 2.02 percent from 102.91 to 105.00, followed by the Fisheries subsector by 1.29 percent from 93.96 to 95.17, and the Community Plantation Crops subsector by 0.36 percent from 107.82 to 108.21. Of the five provinces on the island of Java that carry out NTP calculations in the month March 2024, all provinces will experience a decrease in NTP. The highest decline in NTP was in Central Java Province at 4.85 percent, followed by East Java at 4.70 percent, Yogyakarta Special Region at 2.98 percent, Banten at 2.52 percent, and West Java at 0.83 percent.
