Abstract
In February 2024, year-on-year
(y-on-y) inflation in East Java Province was 2.81 percent with a Consumer Price
Index (CPI) of 105.93. The highest inflation occurred in Sumenep at 4.62
percent with a CPI of 108.32 and the lowest occurred in Jember at 2.22 percent
with a CPI of 105.70.
Y-on-y inflation occurred due to
an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the expenditure group
index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 6.54 percent; clothing
and footwear group by 2.73 percent; housing, water, electricity and household
fuel group at 0.55 percent; equipment, tools and routine household maintenance
group of 1.35 percent; health group at 2.38 percent; transportation group by
1.06 percent; recreation, sports and culture group at 1.02 percent; education
group by 1.37 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group at 2.20
percent; and the personal care and other services group at 3.10 percent.
Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were:
information, communication and financial services groups by 0.35 percent.
